Celebrating Disney’s Hotel New York

Disney's Hotel New York has closed at Disneyland Paris. Let's look back at this wonderful hotel

All good things must come to an end; that’s what they say anyway. On Sunday 6th January 2019, Disneyland Paris called time on the current incarnation of Disney’s Hotel New York. The hotel, which opened in 1992 and was designed by Michael Graves, celebrated the modernity and glamour of New York.

The rooms were furnished with memories of the Big Apple including Empire State Building lamps and Apple shaped details, the lobbies and passage ways had logos of famous Sports teams such as the New York Yankees and New York Mets.

Yes, the hotel has felt almost as if it found itself stuck in the 90s, there was some charm in this and captured my imagination. The 2020 redesign will see the hotel become Disney’s Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel. Whilst cosmetic changes are underway inside the hotel, the charm of the current building will remain intact and will be plussed. It will truly be exciting to see this development grow and grow.

To celebrate the hotel, Disneyland Paris created this special video with the hope to reignite special memories you may have of the hotel, but also give an exciting glimpse of the future.
