In Central Paris on the 9th October 2018, Disneyland Paris held their very first annual press conference. At the event, Disneyland Paris released details of all the upcoming seasonal celebrations that will be taking place throughout 2019.
Building on the successes of 2018, 2019 will feature classic Disney entertainment as well as plenty of Marvel and Star Wars fun. More than ever, there is truly something for everyone in 2019 at Disneyland Paris.
Legends of the Force: A Celebration of Star Wars (January – March 2019)
The Walt Disney Studios Park will become the European Star Wars hub once again this winter. From January until March you’ll be able to enjoy a spectacular night time show, meet and greets with Star Wars characters and see the expanded Star Wars shows – this year on multiple stages!
Legends of the Force has become a staple of the Disneyland Paris winter and whilst it’s not the biggest offering of the year, it’s a fun way to experience the Star Wars worlds in the parks and the nighttime spectacular certainly does have the wow factor.
Festival of Pirates and Princesses (January – March 2019)
Over in Disneyland Park, the spectacular Festival of Pirates and Princesses is coming back! This one is back due to popular demand, but wow is it worth it. The Festival of Pirates and Princesses was the stand out season of 2018 and it will be a welcome return in 2019. The highlight of the season is the Make your Choice show which sees Central Plaza become home to one of the biggest parties you’ll ever see in a Disney park.
The big difference between 2018 and 2019 for this season is the change in season, will the shows work as well during the winter months? Time will tell, but the shows really did inspire guests to create a frenzy throughout each and every performance. This will provide a welcome addition to the winter season at the resort, one that is shaping up to be one of the most exciting times to visit in 2019!
Marvel Season of Super Heroes (March – June 2019)
Marvel makes its return to Disneyland Paris in Spring 2019, the 2018 edition of the season was widely popular with guests but did have its technical challenges. Next year, the season will feature numerous improvements which will hopefully improve the reliability of the big stage show Marvel: Super Heroes United. Also announced were additions such as a Groot meet and greet – something that was sorely missing this year.
Marvel is a fun season and a great introduction to the Super Heroes in Disneyland Paris whilst we wait for the larger Marvel land (opening date TBC). Once the reliability issues are worked out, this will be a solid addition to Disneyland Paris and one that I’m very excited to see again.
The Festival of the Lion King and the Jungle (July – September 2019)
The big new addition to Disneyland Paris in 2019 is the Festival of the Lion King and the Jungle. This brand new season will allow guests to get closer to characters such as Simba, Pumba, Timon, Rafiki, King Louie and Baloo through multiple new shows and events. Of course, the big highlight of the season will be the the Lion King stage show in the Chaparal Theatre. This blockbuster show will be undoubtedly spectacular and is something that will become increasingly more exciting as we get closer.
Whilst we do see a lot of Lion King in Disneyland Paris, this must be for a reason, additionally we know that the Disneyland Paris entertainment teams are top of their game when it comes to live entertainment, We should all be excited for this development and to see how the entertainment teams make use of the new theatre space.
Halloween and Christmas
Whilst we know no real details about Halloween and Christmas in 2019, they were also confirmed as returning seasons (unsurprisingly). Each year these season grow in scope and scale and so it will be exciting to see what the teams come up with for 2019.
Special Events – all through the year!
2018 has been the year of the special event in Disneyland Paris. 2019 will build on these successes.
LNB LEADERS CUP: Basketball fans have come to love the LNB Leaders Cup which takes place in Disney Village. This weekend long event sees the biggest and best French basketball teams take part in a fierce competition. It’s always a fun one to watch if you’re in the resort with a fun and unique atmosphere.
MAGICAL PRIDE: On 1st June, Disneyland Paris will host the Magical Pride event. This beautiful celebration of diversity feels like a perfect fit for Disneyland Paris and something we should be pleased that Paris is embracing.
ELECTROLAND: Electroland is returning in 2019 for more of the world’s top DJs in Disneyland Paris. This year, the event will take place throughout the first weekend of July.
Disney Loves JAZZ: This super chilled event does not yet have a 2019 date, but it will be returning and is highly recommended as a great way to have a unique Disney experience.
and there’s much more too: Halloween, New Year’s Eve and some to be announced in the future too!
2019 is looking exceptional!
2018 has been an amazing year (luckily, it’s not over yet!), but 2019 is looking even better! There’s going to be so much unique things to see and do no matter when you visit, and that’s something that is to be celebrated. Every visit is going to be unique and special – and I cannot wait!
